Square Tower

The square tower is the oldest building of the Château and its base goes back to the XII th century, like the neighbouring Château de Tennessus.

Rebuilt in the 14 th - 15 th  century at a height of 86 feet, and defended by a portcullis it accomodates above the prison two large bedrooms accessed by a stone spiral-staircase : the Archives room ( where they were kept for centuries )  and at the top the Dercé room, a magnificent vaulted hall with a celling above twenty feet high, it's the room of the Dercé family in the 14 th and 15 th century and has remained very much as it was at the time with sculpted decors.
